What can we offer your child?
Scoil Mhuire Naofa has a long and proud history of education in the Carrigtohill area. There is great emphasis on a child-centred approach to education in the belief that a high quality education enables the child: to live life to the full as a child and to realise his potential as a unique individual to develop as a social being through living and co-operating with others and to contribute to the good of society to prepare the child for further education and lifelong learning
The curriculum followed in Scoil Mhuire Naofa is based on Curaclam na Bunscoile.
It is divided into the following key areas:
Languages: Gaeilge and English
Social, environmental and scientific education: History, Geography and Science
Arts education: Visual Arts, Music and Drama
Social, personal and health education
Religious education: Children are prepared for the Sacraments of First Confession, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
School Uniform: Grey Shirt Wine Tie Grey Pants Wine Jumper. We also have a School tracksuit which is worn on PE days.
Gate opens 8.30. Children walk to their líne. Yard is supervised until 8.40 when the class teacher escorts their líne to class where work commences. If you have business in the office please enter via the main door after you have dropped your child to the líne.
If you wish to see the class teacher or view your child’s work this can be done after 1.20pm (Infants) 2.20pm
For Juniors and Seniors the gate will open for parents to enter at 1.20. Your child will be waiting in their líne for you collect them. All other classes will be escorted to the main gate by their teacher and can be collected at that point.
There is a facility in school for the purchase of small items such as copybooks, biros, erasers and pencil sharpeners etc.
